Greg will be taking over as new owner of the Twins. (Sadly for him) He is a Cubs fan in real life and will be a great addition to the league. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know how good the team he is taking over is... He was initially going to take the Cubs, but I convinced Darren that we are doing the league and shouldn't quit. Greg can speak for himself, but I think he'd rather not be the GM of the cursed Cubbies

He has a choice between the 3 open teams and is deciding between the White Sox, Pirates, Royals. Welcome Aaron, and feel free to ask questions!

Aaron is still deciding, but I should have the Clean Versions of the Royals and White Sox rosters done today. The Clean version of the Pirates is already posted
Thanks Aaron and let us know if you have any questions

The following owners were at some point in the league and for various reasons were no longer with us. I know people were connected with the teams they had built for so long, so I was willing to give all these people a 2nd chance with us. I'm confident that I can keep things under control - not that Mike did a bad job, but I don't think he actively did enough to stop the bickering and stuff. With that being said, I will have zero tolerance for chat box blowups or ANYTHING that violates the Proboards Terms of Service which you all signed. - Please welcome back Steven, prior owner of the Yanks. - Please welcome back Darren, prior owner of the Cubs. - Please welcome back Reid, prior owner of the Yankees (now Red Sox or possibly another team). - Please welcome back Justin, prior owner of the Padres - Please welcome back Mac, prior owner of the Dbacks - Please welcome back Brett, prior owner of the Giants. As you all may or may not know, Brett is my brother and was accused of running 2 additional teams other than the Giants. I have had serious doubts that this was EVER the case, and since I did not have admin powers, I was not able to validate the info that Mike claimed. I argued with him to no avail about it. Either way, I now -- as admin -- have access to IPs and am dead set on making this a fun and fair league; that will be the case. I'm excited to look forwards and not backwards. If you had any prior issues with any of these owners, PLEASE step back and for the good of the league let those issues be water under the bridge. We're going to be battling with eachother on the diamond for years, and we have a diverse group of owners of all ages. Differences of opinion will occur. Respect others and their opinions. Thank you. PLAY BALL! -The Commish

Thanks alot Brian, just a couple of questions; what are the 12 periods? Is that the 12 weeks the season runs for? Also, you said to include salary information with my player list in my message board, where do I find the salary information?
|
|
|
Post by Brian R (Rangers) on Jun 12, 2011 13:19:41 GMT -5
I think all your salaries can be found in the Orioles Clubhouse under the 60 Man Roster info aroundthirdbase.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=os&action=display&thread=468I think the only thing that might be confusing the (1/6), (2/6) type things - that refers to how many years the player has used of protected eligibility (each ML player is protected for their first 6 years so that they do not enter FA until after 6 full ML seasons). If you want to confirm any of the contract info, Cot's baseball contracts is the big ML site for contract info: mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/As for the 12 periods, not sure what you mean there - I don't remember off hand how many weeks in the season there are, but we don't go to the playoffs until 4 weeks to go in the ML regular season

Thanks for that. I was referring to the roster section on the CBS team page, toward the top, there are 12 "periods". Currently, period 11 is highlighted in blue. It may not mean anything...

Ahh okay I gotcha
For whatever reason, CBS only lets you set your lineup 2 weeks in advance so they only show the option to go to those weeks. If you click on 11 or 12, you'll notice the dates change that you can click on to adjust your roster for those dates

Ok, fair enough.
Also, re posting my roster, what do you count as being in the minors; a minor league player, a major league player on rehab assignment, or both?

I'm just about to head to work - let me get back to you within the next hour Alex
In the meantime, if you want to review the 60 Man Roster portion of the rules, that might help answer your question there

Ok, fair enough. Also, re posting my roster, what do you count as being in the minors; a minor league player, a major league player on rehab assignment, or both? To more clearly answer your question, a major league player who has at least 1 year of ML service for our purposes (>50 gms played for position player, >10 starts for starter, greater than 40IP for reliever) cannot be put on your minor league roster regardless of whether they are in the minors in real life. Those players must be on your 40 man roster and have their salary counting towards your team salary.

I've been trying to get him to be in the league for a few months now - as college roommate sport nerds, we got in at least a few fantasy related arguments. I've been trying to get him to join since I took over and finally got to him ;D
So he knows his stuff and will be a good replacement for a good young Nationals team that Preston built well. I thought he was going to go with the White Sox actually but he must like what he sees in the specs of the Nats.
Just as an FYI for people, Preston had told me offline a few weeks back that he was resigning which was disappointing. But he had mentioned on multiple occasions that he really thought we should have started the league over with fresh teams.

He is taking over the Indians bashers. No pitching but all it will take is a couple moves to trade some hitting depth for a couple ML starters in the offseason
Check out the rules and let us know if you have any questions Clayton
New owners: no trades until you've been in the league for a week

As it turns out Quan will get the Royals team after all (his 1st choice instead of the Astros) as Eric has stepped onto the waiting list for a little while as he is going to get used to the proboards set up and dynasty league setting.
We have Geno stepping in for Brett as Giants GM
Rick will be taking over as the Astros GM
Welcome guys!

Well, we're getting there but hit a few bumps in the road.
The White Sox owner joined the league and went completely MIA. He has been removed and I've offered that team to Quan who has agreed.
Rick, the Astros owner decided after looking at everything that it was going to be too much for him at the present time - he has moved to the waiting list while he gets time to learn the dynasty and proboards settings.
That leaves the Royals and Astros still open as our only 2 teams headed into today

I have had 5 potential suitors for the final Astros squad today, so we'll see what happens. My goal is to have the league completely full by the end of the All Star Break. Thought we were full a few days back so spoke prematurely.

Amy is taking over the powerhouse Yankees team in the strongest division.
Given her dominance of another difficult dynasty league, the Rays and Jays are probably now going to have to look even more over their shoulders than before. Great to have you Amy and good luck!

Please welcome new member Josh as owner of the Twins! Josh is a great asset to our Football League and will be a very strong addition to the league. He sounds like a good baseball mind and has to like his chances with a Playoff-caliber Twins squad.
Please welcome Brett back as fresh new Co-GM of the Nationals along with our cousin Dan who will also be joining the league. Brett had time constraints preventing him from participating last year and let Geno take over that Giants squad in the interest of joining the Waiting List for next season. As many of you know, Brett is a baseball guy through and through - and Dan is as well. It is my understanding that Dan will be running more of the day to day stuff, but we'll see how that plays out.
Good luck to the Nats and Twins, and welcome to the new GMs Josh and Dan. Please don't hesitate to ask questions!

Also another "new" owner - the Astros have allowed their GM Sam to sign a new contract with the Rays to become their new GM. They knew Sam was excited about the opportunity and couldn't keep him around. They wish him well and thank him for all the time he spent trying to improve the floundering franchise.
Good luck Sam in your new role with the Rays! A lot of high expectations for a team who came up just short in the World Series!
