Trade Negotiations
Negotiating is typically done in the following ways.
* (MOST COMMON) Each GM can be reached by Personal Message - Only the GM you send it to can see this message and it acts as a great way to negotiate back and forth. Simply click on a GM's name and proceed to "Send Personal Message," and you can send a message easily.
* Each GM can be reached by email. Please see the GM Contact area for email information.
* You can find most trade talk on the part of the board called “The Grapevine.” In this section, you can post the players you wish to trade and/or what types of players you are interested in trading for.
* Do not publically post an offer on the message board.
* Certain trade ettiquite rules include some common sense stufff - do not agree to multiple offers at once, do not post an offer without getting clear confirmation, do not publically rip a team's offers or get into heated exchanges, do not negotiate in the public forum, and of course, do not try to rip people off.
Trade Review Process
Trading can include Minor Leaguers, Prospects, and Major League Players but cash, draft picks, and franchise tags cannot be exchanged in any transaction. Any trade negotiation that concludes in an agreement must be posted in the Trade Review section by both teams confirming the deal, also, an indepth paragraph on why the deal was done must also be included. If any of these are missing, the trade will go unrecognized.
If you agree to a trade, post the trade in the Trade Review Section as a poll (next to the "create a thread" button is a "create a poll" button). Also, if you forget, you can always add a poll to a post (next to the "modify" button is a "add a poll" button"). Other owners will vote on this trade as a way for the league to identify what trades may need a second look.
Your post must include ALL players in the deal, as well as ALL players contracts and salaries. You also must write a short blurb about why you think the trade is in the best interest of your team. Inadequate commentary could result in further information being requested later before the trade can be approved. The other owner will also confirm the trade and write their own blurb.
A team cannot acquire more then 3 extra players in a single trade at any time. Any individual trade between 2 GM's cannot exceed 10 players to eliminate roster confusion and lob sided trades. The same rule applies for 3 or more team trades, no more then 10 players may be involved in the deal.
Trade Approval
While a vote will be very helpful in assisting in identifying trades that may need to be re-worked, the league office will approve trades on a trade by trade basis. While the league office may always request further information from the involved owners and in some cases even encourage the involved owners that a trade be re-structured prior to approval, we will only in the rarest of circumstances flat out veto a trade if both owners insist on its benefit for both teams and successfully convince us.
Trades with new owners and trades between friends and/or family members will be especially scrutinized, of course.
New GM's
New GM's must be in the league for 7 days before making a trade. This allows new GM's to get accustomed to the league, the rules, and allows it so they dont make mistakes early.
Trading Deadline
The trading deadline will be July 31st at 11:59 PM ET. ALL trading can resume once all FA's have been posted following the regular season. It will typically be near the first week of November.
